New Transplant Immunology Research Lab

Scorpio has completed a transformative renovation to the 4th floor of the Medical Science Building for the University of Florida’s College of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine to provide a state-of-the-art laboratory for Dr. Carl Atkinson’s, Professor of Medicine and Director of Transplant Immunology, research group.

Dr. Atkinson is leading a team that investigates a myriad of topics related to lung transplants, lung tumors, and the damages caused by smoking. Dr. Atkinson and his team are actively engaged in research related to potentially life-saving discoveries. This new lab space will provide this team with the necessary space and equipment to further expand and explore their research in the hopes of accelerating positive outcomes.
