UF Jacksonville Celebrates Campus Milestone

To bring new ideas, new perspectives, new opportunities to the First Coast. We bring our strengths. Together, we create opportunities that, quite frankly, none of us could do on our own. We’re more than just the sum of our parts.

On Wednesday, September 9, the University of Florida and the City of Jacksonville welcomed guests to celebrate the ribbon-cutting of the first building on the University’s downtown Jacksonville campus.

Located in the historic LaVilla Neighborhood, 801 West Bay Street was the first building completed at the much-anticipated University of Florida Jacksonville Campus. It will serve as the central hub for the campus’s growth. In partnership with Scorpio Corporation and TTV Architects, the scope of this project included a selective demolition and build-out of the two-story, 38,000 SF building. The buildout consisted of classrooms, studios, labs, offices, meeting spaces, study areas, a large front desk entryway, storage spaces, and a well-equipped event space. Included are state-of-the-art technology, new casework & LED lighting, new glazing, security upgrades, beautiful finishes & brand cohesion, along with new systems upgrades and light sitework.

The new UF campus is focused on serving the greater First Coast community by creating additional workforce development programs, jobs, graduate education, and developmental research. The campus itself hosts programs from the Warrington College of Business, the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering, the College of Design, Construction, and Planning, the Levin College of Law, and the College of Medicine. UF Jacksonville will also serve as the home of the Applied Research for National Security Lab, a statewide initiative that advances work in national security, specialty electronics, and applied research.

We are proud and honored to help the University of Florida and the City of Jacksonville take the first step in building a transformative campus for the community.
