Marion County Animal Services Center

Marion County is currently under construction on a brand new 37,361 sf animal shelter that will provide a safe, loving and stimulating environment for animals in need. The facility will help the growing need for the center’s services in the community as well as address the limitations of the current location.

The 21 acre site is to be completely developed with concrete walks, parking, and landscaping. Long walking paths and multiple play areas will line the back perimeter of the site.  In addition, a completely new entrance drive to the property will provide safety and efficient vehicular access.

The main structure on site will be a new 31,000 sf Animal Services building.  This building is to house a large lobby, offices, multipurpose rooms, quarantine rooms, animal dispatch and investigators, cat adoption area, and cat runs, intake rooms, surgery area and lab.

Multiple Kennel buildings will be required to support the services.  Four (4)  4,700 sf Kennel wings with 50 kennels on each wing are planned. These kennel buildings are interior and exterior and have a corridor with a “no-fear” wall and glazing division from the dogs.

The project also includes a Utility Garage that is 1,050 sf and provides both storage and work areas.
