The Future of Nurse Training and Education
The College of Nursing at the University of Florida is ranked in the top 25 graduate programs by U.S. News & World Report and it is consistently ranked in the top ten percent of all graduate degree-awarding nursing schools in the nation. UF has pioneered many innovative nursing education models thanks to the leadership spirit of the faculty, including, the first nurse practitioner program in Florida, first BSN to PhD track in Florida and the Doctor of Nursing Practice program.
This most recent renovation of roughly 6,000sf of existing teaching space into a learning center for the college is another step toward their reach for preeminence. The new space includes classrooms, patient and procedure simulation rooms, control room simulation, an innovation studio, skills lab, and equipment storage. Every aspect was planned to accurately represent hospital-like conditions for the expert training of nursing students. This includes wall units and patient beds complete with oxygen, air, vacuum regulators, suction canister, blood pressure cuff with mount and basket, sharps containers, and more to recreate the hospital setting and provide expert education to the next generation of Gator Nurses.
