Campus Living

The University of Florida Key Residential Complex, built in 1991, is located in the center of the UF campus. This residential facility is designated for upperclassman and student-athletes. Scorpio managed a series of extensive renovations in 2015 and 2016.

The Keys Breezeway Project was a multi-faceted project. Use of new curtain-wall systems enclosed the open-air breezeways for five of the dormitory buildings, ensuring extra security and access control for the students. Scorpio then completed interior renovations to the buildings each consisting of 12 residential units. Each unit is a furnished apartment with four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a kitchen. Extensive demolition made way for the new construction of all interior components including new kitchens and HVAC. Faced with an extremely tight timeline, and no opportunity for time extensions, Scorpio was able to put $1.3 million worth of construction in place in 63 calendar days.

The second phase of renovations occurred to the Keys Commons area. The Commons building received a newly renovated lobby, bathrooms, offices, kitchen, computer lab, library and laundry room. The mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems were upgraded as well, and a new roof was installed.
