Forensics 101

This new facility was constructed to house the administrative and morgue operations for the Office of the Medical Examiner – Florida District Eight. District 8 serves more than 350,000 citizens living in Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Dixie, Gilchrist, Levy and Union Counties. Twice the size of the current building, the new facility includes new office space, a fully equipped morgue, a large refrigeration system, a state-of-the-art Autopsy Suite with multiple autopsy review units, and upgraded epoxy surfaces in select areas, along with a drive-in vehicle port.

There is a high degree of security associated with the construction of this facility. This includes a secured entry lobby, bullet resistant window access,  two-way communicators, and secured access to all exterior entries as well as the Autopsy Suite.
