Team Scorpio executed a wildly successful company fundraising campaign for the 2020 Alachua County Heart Walk supporting the American Heart Association becoming the leading fundraising company and team. The Alachua County Heart Walk is a fun and meaningful way to celebrate heart disease and stroke survivors, raise lifesaving funds, and encourage physical activity.
When Domenic Scorpio took on the position of the Chairman for the 2020 Heart Walk he recruited an energetic Executive Leadership Team that set the bar high and achieved incredible sponsorship participation early in 2020. Then COVID hit and our fundraising efforts as a community and a company had to pivot.
With the recent coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic keeping more of us at home, the American Heart Association, the leading voluntary health organization focused on heart and brain health for all, embraced “the new normal” and moved its iconic Alachua County Heart Walk online.
“Now, more than ever, we’re all looking for ways to connect with others, stay active and stay encouraged,” said Domenic Scorpio, Heart Walk Chair “This digital format allows everyone to continue to have fun and support our lifesaving mission while adapting to spending more time at home. We are grateful for the support from our community and can’t wait to see how everyone makes the Heart Walk their own.” On September 26, Alachua County area Heart Walk while participants and teams did not physically meet they got moving at home or around the neighborhood and continued to fundraise.
