Scorpio-2019 Gator100 Honoree

Team Scorpio

Scorpio was named to the University of Florida’s 2019 Gator100 during a ceremony on Feb. 22 at UF’s J. Wayne Reitz Union Grand Ballroom.

Sponsored by the UF Alumni Association, in partnership with the UF Entrepreneurship & Innovation Center, the Gator100 recognizes the 100 fastest-growing businesses owned or led by UF alumni.  Ernst & Young calculated each company’s compound annual growth rate (CAGR) over the past three years to generate the ranking. Scorpio was ranked 32nd with a CAGR of 50.22%.

Scorpio was founded in 2013 by UF graduates and husband and wife team, Domenic and Holly Scorpio. A commercial construction firm based in Gainesville, Scorpio services a range of clients and owners. Scorpio is proud to have the University of Florida as a long-standing partner, completing numerous projects over the years. Notable projects are the recently completed Career Connections Center Expansion and Renovation at the Reitz Union and Renovation and Expansion of the Katie Seashole Pressly Softball Stadium. Currently, Scorpio is managing UF’s College of Education Renovation and Expansion of historic Norman Hall. Scorpio also partners with Trimark Properties, Santa Fe College, North Florida Regional Medical Center, and others on major projects impacting our community.

100% Gator

After receiving both his undergraduate (1994) and Masters (1998) degree from the College of Design, Construction, and Planning, Domenic began work at a Gainesville-based commercial construction firm. After helping to grow the company during his 20-year tenure and eventually serving as President and Qualifying Agent, Domenic set out with his partner Holly (BA,1998), to create their own company. Founded on the ideals of community-centered construction, Scorpio has grown rapidly.

“We are incredibly grateful to UF. Not only for the education we received but the many opportunities UF has afforded our company since. And of course, we are extremely thankful for this recognition of our company. Holly and I are accepting this on behalf of the amazing team we work with every day, many of which are also Gator grads. Scorpio’s success is due entirely to the commitment and efforts of those around us,” said Domenic Scorpio, President and CEO of Scorpio.

Good Gator Company

“The Gator100 honors UF alumni from across the university who are founding and growing amazing companies around the country,” said Kent Fuchs, president of the University of Florida. “It’s an incredible affirmation of the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit of the Gator Nation.”
