South Woods Elementary School New Classroom Building
A new two-story classroom building with 196 student stations is the main focus of this expansion. Supporting the new building are sitework improvements and a new central energy plant. The existing elementary school will remain fully functional during demotion and construction. The classroom building is constructed of concrete tilt-wall with structural steel frame. The interior space is comprised of 10 new classrooms (6 with movable partitions that allow them to double in size), 2 extended learning rooms, and 2 large teacher planning rooms. Sitework includes new stormwater control drains and basins, improvements to the existing driveways, new sidewalks with canopies along with 28 additional parking spaces. The new central energy plant includes an 80-ton air cooled package chiller with integrated pumps and a 1,300 gpm air separator. New Building Automation Systems will also be commissioned connected to the campus.
