Radiant Credit Union New Store & Branch Renovations

  • Project Owner: Radiant Credit Union
  • Location: Live Oak, Florida
  • Completion Date: May 2021
  • Partners: Walker Architects

Scorpio is proud to have assisted SunState Federal Credit Union’s rebrand as Radiant Credit Union following a conversion from a federal to a state charter. The new name took effect in January 2021. Along with a new name and a new look came an expansion into Live Oak with a beautiful new 2,800 square foot store. Scorpio is also renovating a number of existing Radiant Credit Union locations in and around Gainesville.

President and CEO Tom Barnard enlisted Scorpio to manage the credit union’s new construction and the refreshing of existing branches.  Walker Architects was selected as the design team and charged with updating the branches to reflect the excitement and energy of the new brand.

For the new Live Oak store, Radiant set out to create a space that was inviting and welcoming to every person entering the branch. Transparency and an open layout were key factors, along with fun and youthful accent colors inspired by the new brand. Walker helped to design a central lounge area complete with a coffee bar that adds an innovative twist, offering a new opportunity for clients and credit union staff to connect over a cup of coffee in a vibrant and dynamic atmosphere.

The credit union was formed in 1957 as Florida USDA Federal Credit Union and changed its name to SunState in 1993. The move to a state charter gives Radiant greater flexibility to expand service beyond its current markets. “The new charter and name encompass our mission and purpose while communicating the fact that all are welcome to join the credit union,” said Chairman Cynthia Brochu.
